Social Action

At the foundation of our values is Tikkun Olam, repairing our world to make it a better place for ourselves, our families, and our future. For our congregants, embracing the idea of Tikkun Olam is about taking action – volunteering in our community and around the country. Together, we make an impact on those in need. We are proud of our commitment to this Jewish value and the impact we have made and continue to make.

Interfaith Works Women's Center: Women's Homeless Shelter

Once a month, BSO members provide dinner to 35 homeless women who stay at the Interfaith Works Women's Center in Rockville on East Gude Drive. We offer a hot dinner of main dishes, sides, desserts and fruit. It is a wonderful place where the women are kind and always appreciative. Volunteers are needed to prepare and drop off dinner on October 19, 2022. (Due to COVID restrictions, no one is allowed to serve food in-person.) SSL Hours for ALL Students who help shop/cook/deliver food.
