Shabbat Services

Our doors are open to all who seek to worship, learn and serve the community.

Tfilah (prayer) is at the heart of B’nai Shalom of Olney. Our services are egalitarian – meaning that men and women participate equally.  Our services incorporate both Hebrew and English, a unique aspect of our Shabbat service is the davening is congregant-led. There is an opportunity to take part by leading a portion of the service, reading Torah, or having an aliyah.

For more information about our service schedule, please contact the BSO Office by calling (301) 774-0879.

Friday Evening Shabbat Services

Welcome the beginning of Shabbat with joyous song and prayer. The final Friday of each month is designated as Smachot Shabbat - everyone celebrating a birthday or anniversary in that month is invited up on the bimah for a blessing from the Rabbi and a special treat.

Shabbat Morning Services

A hallmark of the week at BSO, our Shabbat morning services include spirited davening, Torah reading, and a teaching from our Rabbi in the Berlin Family Sanctuary. Following services, join us in the Kramer Social Hall for a delicious kiddush spread and a great opportunity to relax and catch up with community members. On many Shabbat mornings we have the privilege of celebrating special moments in the lives of our members, including births, graduations, aufrufs, and many Bar/Bat Mitzvahs.
