Alex Kovalsky Scholarship
Alex P. Kovalsky Special Needs Scholarship Fund
Alex was a sixteen-year-old young man who lived with intellectual disabilities and profound deafness. Throughout his life he benefited greatly from jewish organizations that promoted inclusion. Our synagogue, BBYO, The Friendship Circle, Greater Washington DC JCC, Best buddies and others sought to provide both religious and social environments where he thrived. We will always be grateful for the opportunities he was afforded.
To honor his memory, family and friends created the Alex P. Kovalsky special needs endowment fund. Annual scholarships are awarded to individuals with special needs to participate in Jewish educational and social programs. Additionally, funds are available to groups organizing programs that directly benefit children and adults living with special needs.
It is our hope that you or your family member will be able to live life as fully and exuberantly as Alex did. Being part of the B’nai Shalom of Olney community was a comfort and joy throughout Alex’s life. Preference will be given to members of B’nai Shalom of Olney.
We would like to encourage individuals and organizations to apply for these funds. We welcome the opportunity to help support your individual aspirations and organizational programming efforts. Please complete an application and submit using the on-line link below or completing the attached form and either emailing it to bsoadministrator@bnaishalomofolney.org or mailing it to our office.
