MAHZOR LEV SHALEM

• Tuesday, May 18 @ 8:15 p.m. -During the Tikun Leil Shavuot study program we will begin exploring the mahzor together as a community, and we will offer additional study programs on the evenings of June 1 and June 9 to delve further into the riches of this resource.
• Now that the books are in, we are pleased to offer the opportunity to individual families to dedicate one or more books for $54 per copy.  We hope many families will use this as an opportunity to have names inscribed in book plates in each mahzor to honor or memorialize family members and friends.  Discounts on larger numbers of dedications are available, as detailed on the dedication order form. 

KIDDUSH KONVERSATION

• Saturday, May 15 @ 12:15 p.m. - Rabbi Sunshine will teach and lead a discussion on the topic: The Passing Down of Jewish Tradition From Biblical Times to Modernity. By request, this will be a follow-up to Rabbi Sunshine's January presentation at Intergenerational Shabbat. Come sit, eat, listen, and expand the joy of Shabbat with some study.
• Saturday, June 12 @12:15 p.m. - Heidi Cohen, LCSW, will be discussing Mental Illness.

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING

• Saturday, June 12 @ 10:30 a.m. – Join the Nursery School and Congregation as we honor Trudy Doss, for her long years of love and devotion to our nursery school. This is in lieu of the regularly scheduled June 5 Tot Shabbat.

NOTES FROM THE RELIGIOUS

• It’s almost the end of the year for BSO religious school which means that it’s time to start planning for next year!  Our 2010-2011 registration letter has been emailed to you and all the forms are now on the BSO website under Religious School. You can go there directly by clicking on the link below. Please print out the forms and return them to the Synagogue Bookkeeping office no later than June 15 to avoid the late registration fee. • Jill Epstein is going on a Jewish mission to Cuba!!  In preparation for her trip, she is asking for donations to take with her.  She and her husband are required to bring 40 lbs of supplies. When considering what Cubans need, the best advice is to look around and decide what material items in your own life are basic necessities for you.  In Cuba, everything is in short supply. Please contact Jill to let her know if you have anything to donate or know of a vendor who can help.  To help you, a list of needs is posted in the religious school lobby.  And be sure to get your kids involved too…it’s a wonderful opportunity for them to connect to another Jewish community.  Thanks to everyone who has already brought in items thus far.

Recycle, Reuse, Reduce

• Recycle your old cell phones, and empty inkjet & laser printer cartridges. Look for specially marked boxes in the Religious School and main lobby. The items will be packed up and sent to a recycling facility and the synagogue will be reimbursed according to the items collected. Recycle, Reuse, Reduce. Help the environment, help reduce millions of pounds of landfill while raising money for BSO.

• JSSA is pleased to present: A Parent Toolbox for Tweens! - This 3-session interactive workshop series is designed to help parents of "tweens" (9-13 year olds) manage and understand their behaviors. Led by JSSA's experienced child and family specialists, parents will learn how to improve understanding of their child's behavior and gain helpful "best practice" tips for strengthening parenting strategies.
