- Mazel tov to all of our teens that either performed in or helped out with Sherwood High School’s “Rock ‘N’ Roll Planet.” We are so proud of you all!!
- On Sunday, April 11, we would like to invite you to a special “Alef-Bet” Celebration. The workshop will be held from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at B’nai Shalom. At that time, we will share some of what we have learned by teaching you the Hebrew alphabet and then you will help us make our Hebrew name necklaces. This is a necklace that will hopefully be worn through confirmation (Grade 10) and maybe even through college.
- On Sunday, April 18, you are invited to participate in a family education program entitled, “Your Bar/Bat Mitzvah Wimpel / Tallit and Tefillin Workshop. A wimpel is the material or sash that we tie around the Torah. Myrna Yalon, a very talented artist and a friend of B’nai Shalom of Olney, will help you design and create the wimpel which will be used at your child’s
- Thank you to Ed Weisel for volunteering in The Learning Center. He really has been a great help. However, we still need more volunteers who can help on Sundays between the hours of 10:30 - 1:30. Any increment of time would be helpful. Volunteers should be proficient in Hebrew reading, prayers and be able to help with bar and bat mitzvah prayers. This is strictly on a volunteer basis. Karen Leventhal to be Honored as B’nai Shalom’s Young Leader
B’nai Shalom of Olney and Seaboard Region of United Synagogue will be honoring our member, Karen Leventhal on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at 5pm, during the third annual Young Leadership - Azor hof Hayam Recognition Reception. The reception will take place at Chizuk Amuno Congregation 8100 Stevenson Road, Baltimore, MD 21208. The exciting evening will be a night of friendship and sacred community, as well as good food, wine and entertainment.
The Seaboard Region will highlight Karen's leadership and commitment to our synagogue, synagogue life and to Conservative Judaism. Please join us for this celebration or consider submitting a congratulatory ad in the program. [More information]
