JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL

• Sunday, January 31 @ 7:00 p,m, - Jellyfish (Hebrew: מדוזות - Meduzot) is a 2007 Israeli film based on a story by Shira Geffen and directed by her and her husband, Etgar Keret. The film tells the story of three women in Tel Aviv whose intersecting lives paint a portrait of Israeli life. Batya, a waitress at weddings, comes across a mute child who seemingly emerges out of the sea. Keren, a bride whose wedding Batya worked at, breaks her leg climbing out of bathroom stall and ruins her dream honeymoon in the process. And Joy, a Filipino domestic, attends with her employer with whom she struggles to communicate. Poetic imagery draws connections between the lives of these women, all of whom find solace in the sea. Jellyfish was the winner of the 2007 Camera d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Watch the Trailer

Please join the Muslim Community Center (MCC) for an Interfaith prayer & Fundraising For the victims of the Haiti Earthquake, in MCC multi-purpose hall. Area churches, synagogues, and temples are being invited (Light lunch will be served). Your donations will reach the victims through Islamic Relief Fund and/or Helping Hands Organization. Dr. Dan Gottlieb, a Philadelphia-area psychologist and father of congregant Debra Ewing, as speaker. He became paralyzed after a near fatal car accident as a young man. He has used his disability to be an inspiration to other people with disabilities. Among his many accomplishments, he hosts an award-winning show on mental health “Voices in the Family” and has written 4 books, most recently “Learning from the Heart: Lessons on Living, Loving and Listening". • Wednesday, February 17 @ 1;15 p.m. - Hazak members will really get into the twenty first century at this month's meeting -- Debbie Kovalsky will give a talk entitled, "Mind the Technology Generation Gap". She will discuss the evolution of technology in terms of communication and social interaction from the last century to today. While gadgets have gotten smaller, smarter and cheaper - they are only a means to the basic human need to develop relationships with others, expand our understanding of the world we live in and enhance our lives. Please join us for this timely talk. Hazak will be doing something fun the third Wednesday of every month!!
