"SHABBATOGETHER"

• Saturday, January 8 and January 9 - USY will be leading our congregational services on Friday night, Shabbat morning, we will be celebrating Hazak Shabbat, featuring participants and speakers from our 55+ group, highlighting their most informative and influential Jewish memories. We will also be holding our Minyan B'Yachad. We hope everyone will stay afterwards for Kiddush lunch followed by a study session, led by our very own Rabbi Sunshine. The topic will be "The transmission of Tradition through the Ages". Beginning at 4:30 p.m. we will have the fourth grade (Dalet class) lead us in Mincha, Ma'ariv and Havdalah and then at 6:00 p.m.our bonim and preschoolers will enjoy a Pajama Havdalah. Our multi-generational Shabbat experience will conclude on Sunday January 10 with out Vav classes generations fair!

• Saturday, January 23 @ 9:00 a.m. -  On this Shabbat morning, women from B’nai Shalom of Olney sisterhood will lead and participate in Shabbat morning services.  If you would like to participate in the service, please contact Paula Evans at 301-384-3943 or send an email to Paula.Evans@noaa.gov.  Even you are not a member of sisterhood, please come and join us on this special Shabbat morning.  Also, on Shabbat morning, Catharine Clark, a 3rd year rabbinical student at the Jewish Theological Seminary will be spending Shabbat with us and will give the sermon on Shabbat morning.  After lunch, Catherine will lead us in a discussion on Rabbinic thought on how much to eat

HAZAK

• Saturday, January 9 @ 9:00 a.m. - Hazak Shabbat will feature participants and speakers from our Hazak chapter, highlighting some of their most formative ans influential Jewish memories.
• Wednesday, January 20 @ 1;30 p.m. - Hazak will be doing something fun the third Wednesday of every month!! January is all about the opera. The program will be " An Afternoon of Opera," featuring Edward Laskin, choir director of Leisure World.  He will present a short history of Opera and sing a few selections for us. This promises to be a memorable meeting. Anyone over 55 is invited to join them.

RELIGIOUS SCHOOL

Haksheevu! Haksheevu! Everyone is invited to the Generations Fair on Sunday, January 10th. It will be the culmination of a great Shabbatogether weekend. We have invited our BSO havurot to join us. The fair is from 10:00-12:00 p.m.

Square1Art: Please ask your children for their packet from Square1Art. They really did a fine job. The deadline has been extended to January 15. This is a wonderful fundraiser for BSO so please try and purchase at least one item.

• Ongoing - Second Thursday of the month between 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Leslie Kessler, a licensed professional social worker who works at JSSA's Department of Aging, will be on site at B'nai Shalom once a month. She will be coming the second Thursday of the month. You are welcome to drop in or call the synagogue office to make an appointment.
