HAVurot

• We are in the process of forming new havurot. If you are interested in joining or starting a new havurah please email Shelley Engel. We already have started forming one for families with children under the age of two. If you are interested in joining this one, please let Shelley know ASAP.

High Holy Day Seat Assignment Lottery

High Holiday packets have been mailed.   If you have not received one please call the synagogue office to have one sent to you.  The deadline to turn in your order forms to be included in the lottery is by the close of business on Monday, August 4th. You must be in good financial standing in order to participate in the lottery.

Sisterhood

Are you ready for a U2 concert, soccer and football????

• Thursday, August 6 @ 6:00 p.m. - It is that time of year again to start preparing to participate in one of the largest fundraisers at BSO!  We have been asked once again to run the stand at Fed Ex Field. .  We will be running the Kosher stand, in conjunction with Max’s Kosher Market, for the 6 regular season home games for the Redskin’s, as well as for DC United vs Madrid Soccer Game and the U2 concert! We will be holding a training session on August 6th at BSO.  Our contact from Fed Ex Field will be there to answer any questions, and to go over new policies.  The session will be held from 6-9:30.  We realize many of you are just getting home from work at that time, so dinner will be provided. Please let Beth Carchman know if you can attend.
• Sunday, August 9 @ 3:00 p.m. - DC United vs. Real Madrid. C6me work the stand with us! Many of you participated over the last couple of years, while many more of you missed out on the fun.  You can and should ask any of the people that have worked this event with us just how much fun it is.  We sell knishes, schwarma, falafel, pretzels, hot dogs and other items, as well!  We are hoping to have lots of new people this year, while hoping previous year’s supporters will be back. Please let Beth know if you can help out at this fun filled day.

Nursery School

• Thursday, August 6 @ 2:00 p.m. - Our new Director, Renee Stadd, will officially begin on August 3rd.  One of the first things she would like to do is meet you and your children!  So, we are cordially inviting you to attend an informal "Ice Pops and Introductions".  Please stop by with (or without) your child(ren) to meet Renee and to help us welcome her to our community. Hope to see you there!

BSO Israel Adventure 2010

• Tuesday, August 11 @ 7:00 p.m. -We have gotten a very positive initial response to BSO's proposed summer 2010 trip to Israel! We will be having an informational meeting with representatives from our tour planners at ITC (Israel Tour Connection). That evening we will get an initial sense of itinerary and pricing and have a chance to ask any questions you may have about details of the trip. Please RSVP to Roni if you are planning on attending that night or if you can’t make it but still may be interested in the trip.

JSSA’S SYNAGOGUE LIAISON PROGRAM AT  BSO

• Ongoing - Every other Thursday between 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Leslie Kessler, a licensed professional social worker who works at JSSA's Department of Aging, will be on site at B'nai Shalom every other Thursday starting on May 7th. You are welcome to drop in or call the synagogue office to make an appointment. Please bring issues that you want to discuss, or just come in and say hi so she can get to know you.
