Monthly Jewish Film Festival

• Sunday, March 29 @ 7:00 p.m. - This month's movie is Dear Mr. Waldman. Set in early-1960's Tel Aviv, this coming-of-age story centers on 10-year-old Hilik (Ido Port) and his struggle to help heal the emotional wounds of his father, who hasn't recovered from losing his elder son at Auschwitz. Still in denial, Moishe (Rami Heuberger) believes his son escaped and is now President Kennedy's aide. To help his father move on and gain the father-son relationship he sorely needs, Hilik puts Moishe's love to the test. Hebrew with English Subtitles Rated: NR

CONGREGATIONAL SECOND SEDER

• Weekend of April 17 - 19: Internationally acclaimed artist, Mordechai Rosenstein, will be at BSO!

• 7:30 p.m. - Shabbat Services - "My Journey as an Artist"; Mordechai Rosenstein will share examples of interesting stories of those who own some of his pieces.

• 9:00 a.m. - Shabbat Services - "The Art within Shabbat and Torah"
• 12:15 p.m. - Kiddush Luncheon - sponsored by Harry and Sylvia Cohen
• 8:45 p.m. - Wine and Cheese Reception with the Artist - sponsored by the Men's Club and Sisterhood of BSO. Reservations are appreciated.

In an effort to provide our community with opportunities to flourish in this tough economic environment, I have learned about this innovative initiative called JobAssist.  If you are interested in learning more about this program, please email your name, congregation and contact information to Avi Zemelman.  An informational meeting will be planned if there is appropriate interest.

Nursery School

• Wednesday, April 1 @ 9:45 a.m.- 10:45 a.m. - "Conservative Judaism 101" an informal discussion with Rabbi Ari Sunshine. Did you grow up in a Reform temple?  Were you raised Orthodox?  Are you new to the BSO community?  Perhaps you aren't Jewish but your spouse is.  What exactly is Conservative Judaism?  Rabbi Sunshine will help us understand the spectrum of Jewish beliefs/values and where BSO stands on some of the issues important to the Conservative Jewish movement.  Ask the Rabbi--submit your questions about BSO/Conservative Judaism in advance.  Please join us for this informative class.  Open to all of BSO--nursery school, religious school, and prospective members. For more information contact by email Stacey Kane or phone (301) 879-8319.

  • Save the Date: Sunday, April 19th—Mordecai Rosenstein, an acclaimed artist, will be teaching our Gan K-Hey 5 students. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend with their students. There will be a light café.

Sisterhood

• Tzedakah Project - Sisterhood, along with Women’s League - Seaboard Region, is collecting travel size toiletries – soap, shampoo, conditioner and mouthwash – at their Spring Conference on May 3rd.  These items will be made into baskets to be used as centerpieces at the conference and will then be donated to a shelter in Baltimore.  Please place any items that you have to donate in the “Sisterhood Toiletries Tzedakah Basket” in the B’nai Shalom of Olney office by April 24th.  You can contact Toni Stifano-Walton (inot909@comcast.net) with any questions.
