Sisterhood

Tzedakah Project - Sisterhood, along with Women’s League - Seaboard Region, is collecting travel size toiletries – soap, shampoo, conditioner and mouthwash – at their Spring Conference on May 3rd.  These items will be made into baskets to be used as centerpieces at the conference and will then be donated to a shelter in Baltimore.  Please place any items that you have to donate in the “Sisterhood Toiletries Tzedakah Basket” in the B’nai Shalom of Olney office by April 24th.  You can contact Toni Stifano-Walton (inot909@comcast.net) with any questions.

Monthly Jewish Film Festival

• Passover Candy - Order forms for Passover Candy went home a few weeks ago! Orders are due back on February 13th and will be delivered the week of March 29th. • Permission slips - Gan K, Alef 1, Bet 2, and Vav 6 parents please fill out and turn in permission forms for the upcoming workshops as soon as possible.
• Mitzvah University: Thank you to everyone who helped to make Mitzvah University a success! We had 335 attendees on a gorgeous afternoon. Volunteers are still needed to package shoes for shipping.

Tobi Dickstein to be Honored as B’nai Shalom’s Young Leader

B’nai Shalom of Olney and Seaboard Region of United Synagogue will be honoring our member, Tobi Dickstein on March 15, 2009 at 5pm, during the second annual Young Leadership - Azor hof Hayam Recognition Reception. The reception will take place at Congregation B'nai Tzedek, at 10621 South Glen Road, in Potomac, Maryland. The exciting evening will be a night of friendship and sacred community, as well as good food, wine and entertainment.

The Seaboard Region will highlight Tobi’s leadership and commitment to our synagogue, synagogue life and to Conservative Judaism. JSSA’S SYNAGOGUE LIAISON PROGRAM AT  BSO

We are pleased to announce that effective immediately, our new Synagogue Liaison from JSSA will be available to provide consultation to any BSO member. Leslie Kessler, LCSW-C, is a licensed clinical social worker and is available to meet at the congregation or at her office in the JSSA building on Montrose Road. As a reminder, she is able to offer strategies and guidance on a range of issues from caring for aging parents and complicated family dynamics, to challenging transitions and managing stress.

You can contact Leslie directly by email or phone at 301-816-2653 to make an appointment or ask a question.  Consultations are free and confidential. She can also be helpful with referrals to JSSA and other community resources, when necessary.
