Mitzvah university

Mitzvah University is this Sunday, February 8, 2009 and it is open to the entire BSO community and that means YOU! It is a great event and we want you to participate. It is from 8:30-NOON. Register Now. There is something for everyone. This is so important that it replaces regular religious school classes.

• Let’s pay it forward!!
• Come with used shoes to donate to Soles4Souls.
• Come with your checkbook so you can help further the mitzvot of many organizations.
• Come with $10 to get a hair extension to support Autistic Children.
• Come with nickels, dimes and pennies to put in the “parking meter” for Beit Issie Shapiro, People with Special Needs in Israel.
• Come with new pajamas and storybooks for foster children.
• Come with your long hair to donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths.
• Come to the Yofi Tofi puppet show on Mitzvot. (minimum fee)

• Passover Candy - Order forms for Passover Candy went home a few weeks ago! Orders are due back on February 13th and will be delivered the week of March 29th. Even if you don’t have kids in Religious School you can still order Passover Candy, contact Jill Epstein to purchase and help support this fundraiser!

Tu B’Shvat/Jewish Arbor Day is Monday, February 9. “Plant” a tree in honor or in memory of a loved one. It is a forever gift and helps the Jewish National Fund as well as you. The envelopes were sent home with your students.

Tobi Dickstein to be Honored as B’nai Shalom’s Young Leader

B’nai Shalom of Olney and Seaboard Region of United Synagogue will be honoring our member, Tobi Dickstein on March 15, 2009 at 5pm, during the second annual Young Leadership - Azor hof Hayam Recognition Reception. The reception will take place at Congregation B'nai Tzedek, at 10621 South Glen Road, in Potomac, Maryland. The exciting evening will be a night of friendship and sacred community, as well as good food, wine and entertainment.

The Seaboard Region will highlight Tobi’s leadership and commitment to our synagogue, synagogue life and to Conservative Judaism.
