Men's Club

• Sunday, February 1 @ 9:00 a.m - BSO will join other area conservative synagogues in the World Wide Wrap, where men and women will join in laying tefilin at minyan, followed by a brunch
• Thursday, February 5 @ 8:00 p.m. - First Thursday meetings are open to everyone and follow Minyan in the Chapel the first Thursday of the month.

Nursery school

• Week of January 12 - Haggadah Sale –Promise Haggadah Sale Fundraising information has gone home —please check backpacks!  This special Haggadah may be personalized – make sure you get one for everyone at your Seder table. Orders are due back no later than February 15th to the Nursery School PA box.
• January 31 @ 5:30 p.m. - Pajama Havdalah. A program for young families with children ages two through five years old. Join Rabbi Sunshine, Hazzan Geller, Stefanie Rudo and USY members to say “good-bye” to the Shabbat. We will have a nosh, sing and dance and then say Havdalah. Children should come dressed in their PJ and slippers (Parents are welcome to come in their PJ, too)

  • Registration forms are past due— sign up fast because workshops are filling up--there’s something for everyone!
  • Start collecting new pajamas and storybooks for the Pajama Program to donate to children waiting to be adopted and those in shelters
  • Start collecting new and old shoes for Soles4Souls to donate to over 400 countries
  • Think about growing out your hair for “Pantene Beautiful Lengths,” an organization that makes wigs for women of all ages recovering from cancer. Hair needs to be at least 8 inches long.
  • Think about getting blue hair extensions put in to promote Autism awareness!
  • Think about adopting a pet in need of a home, in the mobile trailer located outside of BSO in the parking lot
  • If anyone has an LCD projector and/or screen or TV/DVD/VCR players that we can borrow for Mitzvah University, please let us know!

 

• Passover Candy - Order forms for Passover Candy went home a few weeks ago! Orders are due back on February 13th and will be delivered the week of March 29th. Even if you don’t have kids in Religious School you can still order Passover Candy, contact Jill Epstein to purchase and help support this fundraiser!

Tobi Dickstein to be Honored as B’nai Shalom’s Young Leader

B’nai Shalom of Olney and Seaboard Region of United Synagogue will be honoring our member, Tobi Dickstein on March 15, 2009 at 5pm, during the second annual Young Leadership - Azor hof Hayam Recognition Reception. The reception will take place at Congregation B'nai Tzedek, at 10621 South Glen Road, in Potomac, Maryland. The exciting evening will be a night of friendship and sacred community, as well as good food, wine and entertainment.

The Seaboard Region will highlight Tobi’s leadership and commitment to our synagogue, synagogue life and to Conservative Judaism.
