Congregational Meeting

• Thursday, January 22 @ 8:00 p.m. - Congregational Meeting - This meeting will include the election of officers and trustees for the upcoming term.  Please remember that only members in good financial standing may vote at a meeting of the Congregation.  If you are unsure of your financial status, please check with our synagogue bookkeeper, Millie Durbin.

Kiddush Konversation

• Saturday, January 24, @ 12:15 p.m. - will be led by Shira Oler, past Sisterhood president. The discussion will be "Shabbat and other holiday family traditions."

FIlm Festival

• Sunday, January 25 @ 7:00 p.m. - The Band's Visit will be shown in the Berlin Family Sanctuary. When an Egyptian police brass band travels to Israel to play at the opening of an Arab arts center, they wind up abandoned and lost in a remote desert town in this charming cross-cultural comedy. Defying expectations, the tiny Israeli community embraces the musicians, and both the Egyptians and the locals learn a few things about one another -- and themselves -- in this witty winner of the Cannes Film Festival. There is no cover charge, but donations are welcome!

Sisterhood

• Saturday, January 24 @ 9:00 a.m. - Come and davan with the women of B'nai Shalom of Olney Sisterhood who will be leading services that morning.
  
• Sunday, January 25 @ 9:45 a.m. - Please join Jen Sunshine for challah braiding. Cost is $18 a person (over 21, please!) RSVP: by email to Tara Goldstein or phone (301) 260-0377. Please come ready to braid and bake challah.  In addition, we will decorate challah covers with the theme "generation to generation."  Please bring a couple of family pictures to use on your challah cover.  Bagels and coffee will be served.

  • Start collecting new pajamas and storybooks for the Pajama Program to donate to children waiting to be adopted and those in shelters
  • Start collecting new and old shoes for Soles4Souls to donate to over 400 countries
  • Think about growing out your hair for “Pantene Beautiful Lengths,” an organization that makes wigs for women of all ages recovering from cancer. Hair needs to be at least 8 inches long.
  • Think about getting blue hair extensions put in to promote Autism awareness!
  • Think about adopting a pet in need of a home, in the mobile trailer located outside of BSO in the parking lot

• Passover Candy - Please check backpacks for packets that went home this past Sunday for our Passover Candy Sale! Orders are due back on February 13th and will be delivered the week of March 29th. Even if you don’t have kids in Religious School you can still order Passover Candy, contact Jill Epstein to purchase and help support this fundraiser!

Nursery school

• Week of January 12 - Haggadah Sale –Promise Haggadah Sale Fundraising information has gone home —please check backpacks!  This special Haggadah may be personalized – make sure you get one for everyone at your Seder table. Orders are due back no later than February 15th to the Nursery School PA box.
