WHO LET THE DOGS OUT?

Who let the dogs out? Oy Oy!
Save Sunday, October 28th from 1:30-3:30 pm, right after the second session of Hebrew school, for BSO’s first Bark Mitzvah! You’ll be kvelling and woofing for the dogs as they enter contests, sample kosher dog treats, and enjoy our fresh water station. You can even adopt a new pet from the Humane Society of Howard County, and take it home that day! If you are NOT a dog person, come out and have a snack, get your face painted, and make fun of the dog lovers who buy nicer clothes for their dogs than they do their kids!! And wait until you hear Cantor Geller’s D’Bark Torah… Please email or call Eve Margol* or Shira Rosenthal** for more information, or if you want to volunteer to help make the Bark Mitzvah the best event BSO has ever seen!! Adults: *Evetm@aol.com, 301-570-5615 Teens:**swmgurl14@aol.com, 301-706-4282

SCHOLAR IN RESIDENCE

November 9-10, Rabbi Paul Arberman Congregation Yedid Nefish Modiin, Israel Rabbi Arberman will be speaking on the Masorti (Conservative) Movement in Israel and his experiences having made Aliyah. He will be speaking Friday night and Shabbat morning at services, as well as during a Kiddush Konversation after Shabbat morning services. Join us for this Shabbat as a part of “Link to Israel Month,” and find out more about the rewards and challenges of the daily life of Conservative Jews in Israel.

WORK THE REDSKINS CONCESSIONS AND EARN MONEY FOR B'NAI SHALOM

B'nai Shalom has committed to running the Kosher Concession Stands at all the Redskins Home Games. We are looking for volunteers to be team captains and others to volunteer as well. This is a full day commitment but in the end it is so worth it. For each team we need a minimum of 8-10 people per game (the 8-10 people consists of 1 stand manager, 1 assistant manager and 6 cashiers). Since we will be selling beer, kids under 18 cannot count in the total of people. Please respond to Beth Carchman (bcarchman@comcast.net) to set up a time for the game day managers to have a meeting and training. Anyone on your "team" can be the manager. Gather your closest friends or members of your Havurah to make a team.

INTERGENERATIONAL SHABBAT

Do you have family in from out of town for Thanksgiving? Or is your whole extended family already members of BSO? Would you like to honor them at BSO, and have an aliyah or another honor during the service? Come to our Intergenerational Shabbat on Saturday, November 24! Contact Rena Shochet for more information. 301-598-0477 or gma10bear@verizon.net.
