SHAVUOT - TIKUN LEIS

We have invited our neighboring congregation Shaare Tefilah to join us on Tuesday, May 22nd for our Tikun Leis Shavuot (an evening of study) starting  at 8:00.  Then on the first day of shavout, Wednesday, May 23rd we will be honoring our day school students.  Services start at 9:15 am.

FREE FILM - KEEPING UP WITH THE STEINS

Have you had a Bar/Bat Mitzvah? Have you planned one? Are you planning one now? Are you planning one in the future? Have you ever been to one? Then THIS is the movie for you and your kids on Sunday, May 20th at 7:00pm.

While his parents plan an over-the-top bar mitzvah on his behalf, a 13-year-old boy struggles with his own shyness and his desire to see his father and grandfather reconcile. Directed by Scott Marshall, who deftly mocks Hollywood excess, this sharp but loving satire of materialism took home the Best Feature award at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. Jeremy Piven, Jami Gertz, Doris Roberts and newcomer Daryl Sabara lead the standout cast. PG-13

RELIGIOUS SCHOOL

ADULT EDUCATION OFFERINGS

KIDDUSH KONVERSATION

There will be a Kiddush Konversation and Lunch on Saturday, June 2 led by our member,  Elaine Senter discussing Volunteer Opportunities in Israel.   This will be the last Kiddush Konversation before the High Holy Days.

We want to thank Gene Newman who has organized the Kiddush Konversation for the past several years. We will be looking for a new coordiator for this wonderful Shabbat Program. Please contact Todd Gardner if you might be interested in organizing the program or being a speaker at one of the lunches.

END OF THE YEAR PICNIC

Correction to page 5 in the newsletter: The item mentioning the Bark Mitzvah on June 3 from 1-3 p.m. has been moved to the fall (date to be determined). We didn’t think it would be befitting of a picnic to have dogs eating hamburgers off of our blankets. The June 3rd date is still accurate, but it will be a Congregational Picnic, where the only dogs will be in buns with ketchup and mustard. [More Info]

HAZAK (MEMBERS 55+ YOUNG)

Join us for Bowling! BSO Hazak, Men's Club and Sisterhood invite you to a social, fun filled afternoon Monday, June 4 at 2:00pm. AMF Shady Grove Lanes. $3.00 PER GAME & $4.68 FOR SHOE RENTAL RSVP TO Rena Shochet, 301-598-0477 OR GMA10BEAR@VERIZON.NET [More Info]

YOUTH DEPARTMENT

A note to all youth members and parents:
When you come to BSO for a youth event, please look on the youth lounge bulletin board or in the new hanging folders on the walls for your information. While Mrs. Epstein loves all of her students and families, it’s so busy in the religious school office on Sunday mornings and she needs to focus her attention on you and your learning! If you have a question that needs immediate attention, you can find contact numbers on the youth board for the event that day. Thank you for your cooperation!

MAH JONG MORNINGS

Every Thursday morning at 9:30am, join us to play Mah Jong. All level players are welcome, we will even teach beginners how to play. We will NOT meet this Thursday, 5/24 due to Shavuot, but join us at Services at 9:00 am.
