I am asked to bring several items to distribute during my Mitzvah Heroes Trip to Israel and would love B'nai Shalom to participate in this Mitzvah. I would need all items by Sunday, February 10th so I have time to sort and pack them. Please drop off items in the collection box in the lobby.

The agencies are accepting NEW items ONLY, here are the categories:

Group A
Small School Supplies-pens, pencils, colored pens and pencils, crayons, erasers, markers

Group B
Dental supplies for children-floss, children’s toothbrushes, small tubes of toothpaste, rubber gloves, little toys dentists give out to kids who visit-for a free children’s dental clinic

Group C
Socks for Infants, Onesies, Infant pj’s, Women’s pantyhose and knee hi’s in a variety of sizes; colors: black, nude, white, gray.

Group D
Letters to Soldiers-(We will also do this activity in our classes.) One of the trips activities will be to visit with Barbara Silverman from the organization, A Package From Home. There we will prepare packages with the items that we bring for the soldiers.

Group E
(veterinary medicines)
If you are a vet and can donate medicine such as Clavomax, Dontral Plus or Rimadyl, please contact Jill Epstein.

ADULT EDUCATION OFFERINGS

New Adult Education Classes are beginning at B'nai Shalom of Olney began on Tuesday, January 16th. It's not too late to sign up by filling out the registration form or contacting Annette Bozinko at adulted@bnaishalomofolney.org

The Etz Hayim Bible Brunch offers a new essay each week. As a result drop-ins are ALWAYS welcome. Come to as many or as few as you can fit into your schedule. Babysitting will be available, so please contact the office if you will need a sitter. It is suggested that you read the essays before class. Copies of the Etz Hayim can be found in the Sanctuary or can be purchased through the synagogue office.

Saturday, February 3 - Disabilities Awareness speaker during morning service.  Judy Waldman of Jewish Foundation for Group Homes will address the congregation about work of the Foundation and about her experiences raising a daughter with disabilities.

YOUTH MACCABI GAMES TRYOUTS

Tryouts for the 2007 JCC Maccabi Games are beginning NOW!  The Games will be held this summer in Houston, TX; Orange County, CA and Baltimore, MD.  The JCC of Greater Washington will be sending 16 teams to the Games in almost every sport.  Eligible athletes are Jewish boys and girls ages 12- 16 year olds (depending upon the sport.)  For additional information, please go to www.jccgw.org  and click on the Games logo on the home page or go to www.jccgwmaccabi.org for all the latest on Team Greater Washington.  If you have questions, please call Caroline Cardullo at 301-348-3890 or email her at ccardullo@jccgw.org
