• There is Junior Congregation Saturday, February 25 from 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. in rooms 13, 14 and 15. It is followed by Kids Konversation at 11:45.
  
• Community Service Opportunities: There are some volunteer opportunies coming up for teens who want to earn community service hours. We will need assistance at Yisrael and You University on February 26 from 7:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Volunteers are also needed at the Purim Carnival on March 12 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Adult assistance welcome too! • Feb. 24 is the Gan-Alef (Grade K and 1) class service at 7:30 p.m.
  
• HOLD THE DATE! THE PURIM CARNIVAL IS AT BSO ON MARCH 12! Games, Prizes, Karaoke, Food, and Fun!Information was sent home with students in grades 3-7 and mailed home to students in grades K-2. Advance game ticket sales going on now through March 5. Men's Club is selling lunch and Sisterhood is selling Hamantashen. Tickets available for purchase at Yisrael and You University.

MORNING MINYAN

As you might be aware, we are planning to start a weekday morning minyan at BSO. Our goal is to have our first service on March 6th 2006. The service is open to anybody and would be especially open to people who can read Torah, and Daven. The projected start time is 6:30 AM every morning.

Youth Department

• Seeds of Peace Dinner - Sunday, March 5th Have dinner and meet an Israeli and a Palestinian Student to discuss the ways teens are bringing peace to the Middle East. Dinner is free, but we need you to RSVP! [More Info]
  
• Come see who will become the next “American Idol.” The Youth Lounge will be open from 7:45-9pm on Tuesday nights so you can watch “American Idol” on the big screen.
  
• Mark your calendars now for the USY Formal. It’s right here at BSO this year on February 25th. We can’t reveal the theme, but trust us, you’re going to feel like a star.
  
• Machar will aim for the headpin when they go bowling at Bowl America on Sunday, February 26th from 3-5pm. [More Info]
  
• BSO USY is joining other USYers from B’nai Israel and Har Shalom for a Laser Tag Lock-in on Saturday night, March 4th.

New Havurah forming

We are searching for families with children older than ten to fill a newly forming Havurah. Whether you are a new member of BSO or have been in our family for years, we welcome your involvement in this special program. A Havurah is more than a social, prayer or service group. Friends within a Havurah, create a special connection to each other by sharing a more intense experience within our synagogue life. Sharing both the joyous and sad moments of life, the members of a Havurah truly become your extended family at BSO. Sharing these experiences create a community within a community or families within a family.

We are also trying to compile a contact list for all the existing Havurot. Please send your current 'roster' and any requests for more information to Sharon Agranov sharona@prestongates.com

FAMILY EVENT

Pizza Bingo for kids of all ages and their parents, bubbes, zaydes and friends! Sunday, March 19 at 4 – 6 p.m.

Israeli dancing

• Classes taught by our own Susie Fuchs; anyone 4th grade and up is welcome. All levels included, from beginning to advanced. Classes are at 8:00pm for one hour --look for us either in the social hall or the lobby! Cost is $5.00/adult, $3.00/student.

Sisterhood

• The area-wide Torah Fund brunch for those who support the Jewish Theological Seminary and the Ziegler School at the University of Judaism through the Torah Fund campaign with a minimum pledge of $36 is Sunday, March 26 at 11:30 at Har Shalom. The program will feature Rabbi Daniella Kolodny who was ordained at JTS in 2004 and is Chaplain at the National Naval Medical Center and the only female rabbi in the U.S. Navy. World Zionist Congress Election

Registration to vote for delegates to the World Zionist Congress has closed. If you registered, be sure to vote. You can vote for the slate of your choice, but we urge you to support the platform of our Movement by voting for Mercaz.

Mens Club

• Our Next Men’s Club TEXAS HOLD’EM Poker Tournament will be on Sunday, March 5, 2006 starting at 6:30 pm. $40 for Men’s Club members and $50 for non-members. Pay at the door. • Deadline for registration by mail to participate in the election of delegates to the World Zionist Congress is approaching and on-line registration deadline is mid-February. It's important that we make our voice heard and elect a sizeable delegation from Mercaz, the Zionist arm of the Conservative Movement. Register and then vote for Mercaz to help ensure that our institutions in Israel, USY programs like Pilgrimage and Nativ, and educational and social programs that represent a democratic and pluralistic Jewish point of view are appropriately funded.
