Youth Department
- During this time of the year where we remember what we are thankful for,
it’s also time to remember those who are in need. The annual B’nai
Shalom of Olney Food Drive is here again for the High Holidays.
Grocery bags will be available in the lobby. Please
take some home and fill them up and bring them back before Yom Kippur. The
food goes to the Capital Area Food Bank who very much appreciates B’nai
Shalom of Olney’s generosity.
- 11th graders, spend a day touring two college campuses
to begin figuring out what’s important to you.
To make it more fun, invite some Jewish friends from school or camp or
your youth group. By the end of the day, you’ll get a taste of two
very different types of schools to help you start figuring it all out.
It’s happening November 6th.
For more info, check online or look in your mailboxes real soon!
- The registration deadline for the Kadima Kallah is just
a few days away. Please get your applications in
as soon as possible
- BSO USY is going to
the Warner Theatre on Thursday, October
20th with Kehilat Shalom USY to see Joseph and the Technicolor
Coat.
Don’t
worry there’s
no public school the next day. But please note that BSO has only 15 tickets
to sell! Order your tickets now.

Sisterhood
- We're looking for a few more Sisterhood member volunteers to help staff
the Sisterhood Judaica shop. In order to meet the needs of the BSO community
we want to have regular hours to serve nursery school families, religious
school families, working adults, etc. If you can commit an hour or two (or
three) each month, please call Ellen Lemberger.
- Make a reservation for the Sisterhood Family Shabbat Dinner in the Sukkah -
Friday Night October 21st. Contact the office for more info.
- Sisterhood Shabbat is Saturday, January
21. It's not too early to start thinking
about your participation in the service, learn some new skills, practice
your Hebrew reading so that you can lead a new prayer or section of the service.
If you think you might want to try something new but need some help or if
you are interested in helping coordinate Sisterhood Shabbat, please call
Naomi.

MOVIE NIGHT
There was a huge crowd at Bonjour Monsieur Shlomi.
If you missed the film, it is available through NetFlix.
Next Month - October 23rd we will show The
Life and Times of Hank Greenberg, directed by Aviva Kempner
The story of Baseball Hall-of-Famer Hank Greenberg is told through archival
film footage and interviews with Jewish and non-Jewish fans, his former teammates,
his friends, and his family. As a great first baseman with the Detroit Tigers,
Greenberg endured antisemitism and became a hero and source of inspiration
throughout the Jewish community, not incidentally leading the Tigers to Major
League dominance in the 1930s.
