High Holiday Ticket Sales
By now you should have received your High Holiday information packet.
Please read through it carefully. Just a special note on a new service this
year. The interactive Learning service for individuals and families of all
ages. It is designed to meet the needs of families with elementary aged children,
families preferring an abbreviated service, plus those who would like a learning
environment. Please send your forms in today.
NEWS FROM CANTOR GELLER
- The Children's Choir is forming again and will be performing during the
High Holidays. If you are interested in joining, contact Cantor Geller right
away.
- Adult Choir Rehearsals coming up - Wednesday, 9/7 @8:00pm; Tuesday, 9/13
@8:00pm; Tuesday, 9/20 @8:00pm, Thursday, 9/29 @8:00pm
- Listen to new recordings from our liturgy, the Torah and instructions for

MOVIE NIGHT
Israeli Affairs Committee presents Bonjour Monsieur Shlomi Directed
by: Shemi Zarhin. Sunday, September 18th at 7:00.
BONJOUR MONSIEUR SHLOMI is a heartening family comedy, a surprising love
story, which focuses
on the captivating character of one boy blessed with extraordinary cooking
talents, who discovers through the power of love that the sky is the limit.
Admission is free. Refreshments available. Not suggested for children.
Religious School
- The first day of school is September 6 for Tuesday students, September
7 for Wednesday students
and Sunday, September 11 for grades K-7. We are anxiously awaiting your arrival!
- The first Junior Congregation of the year is Saturday,
September 10 from
9:30-11:30 in Rooms 13, 14, and 15.
- Back to school packets were mailed with tear-off forms that should
be returned to the religious school office.
- Adult Hebrew classes begin on the evening of September

Youth Department
- Please join us September 11th from 3:00 – 5:00 when we have
an ice cream social to meet and greet our new youth department. Both Adam,
our Youth Director and Miryam, our NEW USY advisor would love to meet all
of you!
- Bonim is collecting items to send to American Jewish soldiers serving
in Iraq and Afghanistan. Please bring any toiletry items to BSO and drop
them off in either the bin outside the sanctuary or near the classrooms.
The soldiers say they could also use heavy duty socks. Bonim is also
making Jewish New Year cards to send to the troops and the whole package
should
arrive in time for Rosh Hashanah.
- Wrap up Shabbat with Machar on September
17th as they go on a Havdalah Hayride. 8-10pm at Circle ‘D’ Farm.

Nursery School
The B'nai Shalom of Olney Nursery School will hold its Twelfth
Annual Fall Boutique and Silent Auction on Sunday,
October 16, 2005, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. This fabulous
boutique will feature over 60 vendors with unique merchandise such as jewelry,
toys, apparel, holiday gift ideas and home accessories. Also featured are
a silent auction, themed raffle baskets and free gift wrapping. The event
will take place at the Longwood Community Recreation Center located at
19300 Georgia Avenue in Brookeville, about about one mile north of Route
108. For more information call 301-260-1406. Admission is free and open
to all.
Mens Club
- The Men’s Club will have an open meeting for all members and perspective
members on Thursday, September 15 at the synagogue
starting after 7:30 pm Minyon at 8 pm
- Please save the date of Sunday evening Sepember 25
starting at 6:30 pm when the Men’s Club will host a Texas
Hold-um tournament. Details
for this event will be forthcoming but everyone, including the ladies and
outside guests are invited to attend and participate. The entrance fee
will be discounted for paid up members of the
Men’s Club.
- Entertainment books are available once again in the front office.
Sisterhood
- Members Meeting on Wednesday, September

- Sisterhood to co-sponsor the Boo Hoo Breakfast for Nursery School Parents
on September 8 & 9, Thursday and Friday morning at 9:30am
- Sisterhood Welcome Back Brunch - Sunday, September
18th at 11:00am in
the Kramer Social Hall. Call Diane Kahanov at 301-570-4744 to RSVP. We will
collect Sisterhood dues and updated information for 2005-06. Guest couvert
for brunch $25.00.
