High Holiday Highlights

  • THANKS to Larry Solomon for arranging for more comfortable seats for the last rows in the Social Hall area for Kol Nidre and Yom Kippur.
  • On Kol Nidre, no assigned seats but ticket is required, we ask that you fill in all seats and not save seats. Ushers will remind you of this, we request that you cooperate.
  • We are arranging for more Board members to be at the afternoon (B) service on Yom Kippur.
  • Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs) are now available at B'nai Shalom of Olney for use during services. We have a variety of ear inserts, earphones, and neck loops for you to try. Look for signs outside the sanctuary or ask an usher for assistance. We hope you will take advantage of this technology, and ask for your feedback on how it works.
  • First time announcement -- As promised, there will be a Congregational Town Hall meeting to receive comments on this year's High Holiday services and suggestions for next year. The meeting will be immediately following minyan, Thursday, October 21, 2004. You can also e-mail comments to highholidays@bnaishalomofolney.org. We will be sending out a survey electronically and in the November Newsletter to solicit your input on this subject.

Help BAG HUNGER... with BSO USY

At the entrance to the synagogue, you will find large paper grocery bags. BSO USY asks that you take these bags home, fill them with the non-perishable food items that you would otherwise eat on Yom Kippur, and bring them back between Kol Nidre and Sukkot. All items collected will be donated to Capital Area Food Bank, a nonprofit organization helping people for over 21 years.

Please help make BSO USY's Bag Hunger campaign a success! If you have any questions, please contact Jacob Komisar, BSO Youth Director, at 301-774-0879, or at BSOYouth@bnaishalomofolney.org
