Attention BSO Youth Parents - WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP!
USY on Wheels is returning to Olney, and there are still USY'ers without
beds!
In case you forgot the details . . .
On Monday, June 28th, 49 teenagers will arrive at BSO and they need
somewhere to sleep. That's where you come in. We are looking for families
to open their homes (and beds) to our bus and host a few teens for two
nights - June 28th and 29th. All we ask is that you provide a bed (or
couch or mattress, etc.) and breakfast for at least two teens on the
trip. We will have a BBQ at BSO on Monday night (families are invitied,
BBQ is from ~ 6:30 - 8:30) and will be touring the monuments on Tuesday
night (pick up at BSO at ~9:30pm). Pick up and drop off is at the synagogue
and arrangements can be made for drivers if needed. Both mornings USY;ers
will be dropped off at BSO at 7:30am.
Currently there are 17 females and 5 males without homes. Thank you
to the 8 families helping us out so far. If you have a child away for
the summer, an extra bed or couch, or even if you are an empty-nester
who longs for someone to eat your food, please contact Lee as soon as
you can.
Honor our American Military
On
July 3, as an Independence Day observance there will be
a special Shabbat service to honor those who have served or are
currently
serving in the
uniformed services of the United States.
Cantor Geller will present a special program to pay tribute to
national service and national pride.
Maccabi Games
Thank you. Thank you. Thank
you. The JCC Maccabi Games staff just wanted to say how happy we
are that some of your
synagogue members will be a part of the JCC of Greater Washington’s
delegation.
The Games are still in need of volunteers and host families. And if
your congregants are so inclined, please have them visit our website
at www.jccgwmaccabi.org and follow the links, or go directly to the online
registration page at www.jccreg.com.
Some synagogues have contacted us to place a congratulatory advertisement
in our ad book, and so we are offering you the same opportunity. We are
enclosing a list of your member-participants as of June 7 as well as
the ad book reservation form. If you have any questions about ads, please
contact Steve Carver at 301-881-0100, ext. 2777.
We have extended the deadline for congregations to respond to Weds.,
June 23.
