B'nai Mitzvah Projects

  • Are you working on a Mitzvah Project? Add it to our website and receive support from our congregants! www.bnaishalomofolney.org

Help Repair this Torah Rescued from the Warsaw, Poland

  • This Torah rescued from Warsaw, Poland and purchased by Habonim Dror will be repaired and then housed at B’nai Shalom on permanent loan from Habonim Dror and used at each Junior Congregation. It is the perfect size for our kids. When refurbished, it will be very readable. To date we have raised $3500 and need an additional $10,000 to complete the repairs. Read more about it.


Religious School

  • Registration forms for the 2004-2005 school year were mailed the first week of May. They are due back to the religious school office by June 11th with a check for the book and activity fee made payable to B'nai Shalom. (The early bird discount on the book and activity fee applies only if your paperwork is returned by May 30th.)
  • A back to school packet with a school calendar for the coming year and other pertinent information will be mailed during the summer.
  • The religious school office is open during the summer. If you have any questions you can reach us at 301-774-9323.

Youth Programs - All events are FREE to Youth Group Members

  • Bonim (grades 1-3, Kindergarteners welcome!)- Friday, May 21st, 6:00pm - Shabbat Picnic Dinner FREE for members! Contact Debbie Kovalsky, Bonim Advisor 301-570-2332 for more info.
  • Parents - we can really use your help leading our youth programs next year. There are openings in Kindergarten, Co-Advising Bonim (Grades 1-3) and Machar (Grades 4-5). Contact Lee Lubarsky if you are interested in getting involved!
  • USY
    • Elections June 3 - 6:00pm @ BSO. If you are planning on running for office, please notify Lee by June 1st.
    • USY/Kadima Transition Dinner and Awards banquet June 4 - 6:00 pm @ BSO
    • All board members, basketball players, USYers, Kadimaniks and their families are invited to join us for Shabbat dinner on Friday, June 4th at BSO. Dinner is free for all and RSVP's are needed by June 2nd. Plan on spending the evening with us as we transition our USY board and hand out shirts and trophies to our championship basketball team. We will join the congregation for services after dinner.
    • USY/Kadima Orioles Game at Camden Yards June 6 - 11:30 am
    • Join BSO and Har Shalom for an afternoon of Baseball on June 6th. The bus will leave from 121 Congressional Lane in Rockville (USY's Regional Office) at 11:30 pm and will return after the game to Rockville. Tickets are very limited and going fast, so reserve yours today!
  • USY on Wheels
    Host families are still needed for the USY on Wheels bus coming to OLney on June 28-30. 42 USYers will need homes for 2 nights (June 28 & 29) with a large number of females needing homes. If you are interested in hosting or have any questions, feel free to contact Lee.

Sisterhood

  • Sisterhood will be holding their installation of their new Board on Wednesday, June 2 at 7:30PM in the BSO Sanctuary. There will be a ceremony followed by refreshments. All are welcome to come and express their Mazel Tovs to the new Sisterhood Board.
