Weekly Highlights & Schedule of Services

  • Third Grade and Family, Birthday and Anniversary Shabbat Service begins at 7:30pm on Friday evening.
  • Shabbat Morning Services begin at 9:00am. We will celebrate the B'nai Mitzvah of Aaron Krens and Zachary Schoengold
  • Final Junior Congregation begins at 9:30am followed by Kids Konversation.
  • Gan Shabbat for Preschoolers-Kindergarten will meet on Shabbat Morning at 10:45am.
  • Sunday Minyan at 8:45am
  • Dedication Ceremony Slide Show Available

  • Calling all 20-30 somethings! Dor Chadash (New Generation) invites you to Happy Hour at Willie and Reeds in Bethesda, May 19 at 5:00 p.m. Join us for $2 drafts and $5 appetizer specials. You can come alone, or bring your friends, singles and couples are welcome! Come and join BSO and other young Jewish adults in our area for good food and a great time.     Also, if you are home from college for the summer, Dor Chadash is a great way to get together with all your friends from your Hebrew school days. Don't be shy!

    Lastly, Anat Alal will be relocating to the Chicago area shortly, and is looking for anyone who is interested in picking up where she leaves off. Having a young adult social group at BSO is important, and she hopes that Dor Chadash can continue to prosper in her absence.     • You can't miss the first ever Simcha Showcase at B'nai Shalom of Olney.

    • Come experience a celebration for life-cycle events including weddings and B'nai Mitzvot in our newly renovated Berlin Family Sanctuary and Isadore and Rebecca Kramer Social Hall.

  • HAZAK presents, "ETHICAL WILLS, A Spiritual Legacy for your Children"
    Thursday, May 13, 10:30am - 12:00pm+
    Speakers: Rabbi Pohl and Jo-Anne Tucker-Zemlak, Assistant Executive Director, USCJ Seaboard Region

  • B'nai Mitzvah Projects

  • Sisterhood
    • Beginners' crochet classes. The classes will be held Tuesday evenings at BSO. If you are interested in learning more or signing up please contact Marsha Ratner.
    • Join Sisterhood for an evening of delectable desserts at the 2004 Election and Appreciation Celebration Wednesday May 12 at 8:00 p.m. For more information or to RSVP contact Sue Hankin or Ava Valentin.

  • Religious School
    • The last Junior Congregation of the school year is Saturday, May 8 at 9:30 in rooms 13, 14 and 15. It will be followed by Kids Konversation at 11:45.
    • The 3rd grade will be participating in their Haggigat Siddur Ceremony and lead the congregation in services on Friday, May 7th at 7:30. All third grade students who did not bring their book covers to school for their siddur should bring them on Friday. Please make sure your name is written in Hebrew on the front of the cover.
    • The last upper school class (grades 8-10) is Wednesday, May 12th.
    • The last day of religious school for K-2 is Sunday, May 16th.
    • The last day of religious school for Grades 3-7 is May 18 for Tuesday students and May 19 for Wednesday students.
    • Confirmation for 10th grade is Friday, May 14th.
  • Youth Programs - All events are FREE to Youth Group Members
    • More information regarding BSO Youth is online.
    • Bonim (grades 1-3, Kindergarteners welcome!)- Friday, May 21st, 6:00pm - Shabbat Picnic Dinner FREE for members!
    • Parents - we can really use your help leading our youth programs next year. There are openings in Kindergarten, Co-Advising Bonim (Grades 1-3) and Machar (Grades 4-5). Contact Lee Lubarsky if you are interested in getting involved!
